The Mini Pinewood Derby date for 2021 planning is underway. A date is pending due to COVID-19 and will be announced soon! The objective of this project falls in line with part of LHF’s mission of promoting family engagement and encouraging awareness about social issues.

 

One issue is the need to ignite interest in Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) programs. Minorities are seriously underrepresented in science and engineering, yet they are also the most rapidly growing segment of the population.

 

Because of the lack of diversity in STEM careers, Los Hermanos Familia aspires to bring awareness to the insufficiency and challenges with regard to its science and engineering workforce.

 

By correlating the mini pinewood project of designing a car for performance and understanding the need for engineering and math skills, we are promoting engineering careers.
